Upcoming Projects
This page is for information about upcoming major projects in Herriman. Most projects are led by Herriman City, while some are paid for by development partners or other entities, which will be noted on each project. Until a project begins construction, its plans, budget, and timeline are all subject to change.

Old Town Water Line Replacement and Upgrades
Fall 2024 - Fall 2025
Project Overview
The City is upgrading old and undersized water lines in Old Town. These 4- and 6-inch lines will be replaced with 8-inch lines to improve water service and fire flow to the area. Pipes will be installed at a greater depth of at least 4 feet. Water service will have minimal interruptions during construction, though there will be local traffic impacts throughout the project. Federal funds will assist in paying for this project.

- Bid opening will be late September 2024 with City Council contract approval in October.
- An open house for affected residents will take place at a date to be determined.

Mountain Ridge Park - Phase 1
Fall 2024 - Winter 2024
Project Overview
Mountain Ridge Park will be a 10-acre park constructed by the developer of the Mountain Ridge development. This phase will include a parking lot, restroom, and pavilion with sodded playing fields and a walking trail. Construction is anticipated to start in the summer of 2024 and be completed near the end of the year.

- A community meeting for Mountain Ridge Park and several other trail projects was held Tuesday, February 27th.
- The park's final design is complete and construction is anticipated to start in fall 2024.

$1,500,000; reimbursed to the developer through Herriman City's Park Impact Fee Fund
Bonneville Shoreline Trail Extension
Summer 2024 - Fall 2024
Project Overview
A one-mile extension of the regional Bonneville Shoreline Trail that will be open to hikers, equestrian riders, and mountain bikes. This trail will place riders below the Mustang trail, creating a milder section of riding through scrub oak and Juniper pine trees. The trail will have a blue trail rating.

- The project was approved by the City Council on May 8th. It has also been approved by the Planning Commission.

Midas Creek Trail Extension
Summer 2024 - Fall 2024
Project Overview
Extension of the west end of the Midas Creek Trail on the northern end of Herriman from 6000 West to 6400 West. The project includes two asphalt trails on either side of Midas Creek and an equestrian trail on the southern side, joined together by a pedestrian bridge in the middle of the new section.

- The full project design has been completed.
- The City and the developer are working on a finalized reimbursement agreement before construction begins.
- Construction is anticipated to last several months between late summer and fall of 2024.

Blackridge Hiking Loop

Project Overview
A two-mile hiking-only loop near the Blackridge Reservoir trailhead. The moderate-level trail will offer great views of the valley as users climb to the ridge.

Stampede Trails
Timeline To Be Determined
Project Overview
Multi-use trail—A multi-use, half-mile directional trail starting from the lower third of the Rawhide trail and moving south until connecting with the Mosey trail. It is open to hikers, equestrian riders, and mountain bikes. The trail's construction will create another loop between the Mojo downhill trail and Mosey trail. Additional short technical rock trails may stem off this in the future. This trail will have a blue rating.
Hiking-only trail—This mile-long trail will be open to hikers only. It will connect to the Rawhide trail and will be the southernmost trail in the area. This trail will allow users more room to separate from other users. This trail will have a blue rating.
