South Valley Chamber 2025 report

The president of the South Valley Chamber of Commerce gave a report on the chamber's activities during the last year, including celebrating 18 new Herriman business ribbon cuttings, several educational and collaboration events, and its overall partnership with Herriman City and local businesses.

The Consent Agenda includes routine or standard items approved together in one vote. Items are not discussed unless the City Council asks to pull an item for separate consideration.

Other City Council Comments

  • The Council highlighted a City employee tenure recognition event earlier in the day to honor employees who have been with the City for 5, 10, 15, or 20 years. The Council also thanked City staff who spent many long hours participating in and tracking the state legislative session and all involved for advocating for Herriman's interests.
  • Mayor Palmer noted that in the legislative session, the Herriman area has been awarded more than $50 million for specific infrastructure construction and improvement projects, such as extensions to Herriman Blvd, Olympia Blvd, Bacchus Highway, Main Street, and High Country Road.

Juniper Crest Road landscaping improvements

A developer presented plans for landscaping and trail improvements along the south side of Juniper Crest Road as part of the Panorama development agreement. The plan includes an 8-foot asphalt path and water-wise landscaping, with most of the work expected to be completed by Fall 2026, and the developer paying the cost.

Parks, Cemetery, Recreation, and Events departments budgets

City staff reviewed requested budgets for fiscal years 2027 and 2028 for the Parks, Cemetery, Recreation, and Events departments. The requests include added staffing, increased maintenance and operational costs, and increased event expenses as the city’s parks, programs, and amenities continue to grow.

Garbage and recycling services

The Council and staff discussed the upcoming negotiation process to withdraw from the Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District and work toward an agreement with Waste Management for Herriman's garbage and recycling pickup services. More details will follow as the process unfolds, and the move is anticipated to be finalized toward the end of the year.
