Deputy Chief Stromberg becomes Herriman Police Department’s first graduate of FBI National Academy

The Herriman City Council formally recognized Deputy Chief of Police Cody Stromberg at the November 12 public meeting for graduating from the FBI National Academy earlier this year. Stromberg completed the program on March 13, 2025, as part of the 293rd session in Quantico, Virginia, becoming the first officer from the Herriman Police Department to reach this milestone. Presenting the award were Chief of Police Troy Carr and Robert Bohls, the Special Agent in Charge for the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office.

The FBI National Academy is an advanced leadership program for experienced law enforcement leaders from around the world. Founded in 1935, it provides 10 weeks of coursework in communication, law, leadership, and fitness. Fewer than 1 percent of police officers worldwide are invited to attend during their careers, and only about 56,000 graduates have graduated since the program began.

Participants must have a proven record as executive professionals within their agencies and go through a rigorous vetting process that includes peer review and a recommendation from their state chapter board. This session included 244 law enforcement officers from 48 states, the District of Columbia, 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and 4 federal civilian organizations.

The recognition highlights both Deputy Chief Stromberg’s individual achievement and the Herriman Police Department’s effort to maintain high professional standards and strong partnerships with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies.
