Transition to Winter Water Source Begins Late-October

As temperatures cool and irrigation season winds down, Herriman City will soon transition its water system to its winter setup, drawing water exclusively from the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD) beginning in late October to early November.

During the warmer months, Herriman uses a multiple-source system, including JVWCD sources mixed with locally pumped underground wells. As demand decreases, those wells are taken offline, and the City relies solely on JVWCD water for the winter.

This shift will also mean a noticeable change in water hardness for many areas in the city. JVWCD water is significantly softer than Herriman’s local well water, which many residents will appreciate when it comes to water spots and household appliances.

Because hardness levels can vary depending on where you live, residents who use water softeners may want to adjust their settings. To find out your area's specific hardness levels for both summer and winter months, contact Wil Szwarc, Water Quality and Conservation Coordinator, by calling 801-446-5323 or emailing wszwarc@herriman.gov.
