General Meeting
Herriman Boys Track Recognition
The Council honored the Herriman High School boys track team for their state championship earlier this spring and recognized the cross country team (many athletes compete on both teams) for their national championship last fall.
Herriman Rugby Recognition
The Council also honored the Herriman High School boys rugby club team for their national championship won earlier this year. It is the team's second national title (2021).
Butterfield Scholarship Recipients Recognition

The Council recognized recipients of the Thomas Butterfield Community Service Scholarship. The three recipients (two were present at the meeting) were Ariana Bautista, Summer Gunderson, and Sunny Sokol.
Youth Council Oath of Office

Incoming and returning members of the Youth Council introduced themselves and took their oath of office for the upcoming year. The high school-aged students applied and interviewed for their positions in the Youth Council earlier this year.

The City Council thanked and commended the City's staff for a successful and memorable Fort Herriman Towne Days event at the end of June
Rose Creek Trail Request
Action: Denied 4-1 | [Trail discussion video link]
The City Council denied a request to vacate a public trail near Rose Creek Estates and directed staff to pursue mitigation improvements instead. The improvements are intended to address some nearby property owner concerns while keeping the trail available for public use.
Manufacturing Zone Uses

The City Council approved a notice of pending ordinance for possible changes to allowed uses in the city’s manufacturing zones. The review focuses on uses such as reception centers, conference centers, charter schools, and vocational schools to better align them with the purpose of those zones.
Olympia Infrastructure Districts

The City Council approved amendments to governing documents for Olympia Public Infrastructure Districts 1-7. PIDs are funding mechanisms for infrastructure within the development. The changes update board member selection procedures, property descriptions, and fee collection language without creating a new fiscal obligation for the City.

The Consent Agenda includes routine or standard items approved together in one vote. Items are not discussed unless the City Council asks to pull an item for separate consideration.

Southwest Athletic Complex update

City staff provided an update on the Southwest Athletic Complex effort, including design work and recent Salt Lake County grant applications for early project phases. The concept includes athletic fields, parking, trail connections, restrooms, and related park amenities.
Thomas Butterfield Scholarship program

The Council and City staff reviewed the Thomas Butterfield Community Service Scholarship program. The current format will be slightly revised ahead of the upcoming scholarship process (in spring 2027) and the overall scholarship budget will likely be increased from $2,200 to $3,000. The program recognizes Herriman youth for community service.
