Seasonal Water Source Change

As warmer weather arrives and water demand increases, Herriman has begun transitioning to greater use of local well water as part of the city’s water system. During the winter months, the system relies more heavily on Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District water, which is typically softer. With the seasonal shift, residents may begin to notice a change in water hardness.

Water from local wells contains higher levels of naturally occurring minerals such as calcium and magnesium, making it harder than winter water sources. This can result in spotting on dishes, buildup in appliances, and reduced efficiency of soaps and detergents. These changes are a normal part of the seasonal water cycle in Herriman.

Residents who use water softeners may want to check and adjust their settings to maintain their preferred water quality. Making small adjustments can help reduce the effects of harder water as the system transitions through the summer months.
