Water Source Transition
Seasonal Water Source Transition Now in Effect
Herriman City has completed its seasonal water source transition and is now relying on water supplied by the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD) for the fall and winter months. This annual change takes place as outdoor watering decreases and overall water demand drops, allowing the City to reduce its use of local groundwater wells.
Water supplied by JVWCD is naturally softer than water from Herriman’s local wells, which contain higher concentrations of minerals such as calcium and magnesium. As a result, residents may notice a decrease in water hardness throughout their homes. This can mean less mineral buildup on faucets and fixtures, reduced spotting on dishes, and improved effectiveness of soaps and detergents.
Residents who use water softeners are encouraged to check and adjust their settings to account for the change in water hardness. The transition is a normal part of Herriman’s seasonal water operations, and both water sources are treated and monitored to meet drinking water safety standards.
