General Meeting

Olympia PID interlocal agreement

This agreement is a formality to allow $10.5 million in state funding for 7300 West's northward extension to pass through Herriman City to reimburse the Olympia developer, who will be constructing the roadway.

Public safety impact fees

The Council adopted a new ordinance implementing updated public safety impact fees based on a newly completed facilities plan and fee analysis. These fees will be collected from new development (not existing residents) to fund police and fire infrastructure in line with projected growth.

Work Meeting

Water rate increase discussion

The Council reviewed updated financial data and scenarios for water rate increases in fiscal year 2026/2027. The Council was generally amenable to the version that uses reserve funding and decreases the burden on residents. This version includes a smaller rate increase (6.5%) than was originally anticipated a year ago (13%). The rates will come back to a future meeting for a public hearing and vote.

Budget process kickoff

The Council began discussions for the next biennial budget, reviewing the City’s current ability to meet service demands and assessing future facility and staffing needs based on projected growth. Multiple planning sessions will be held as part of the 2025–2027 budget drafting cycle.

Parks, trails, and open space master plan update

A consultant presented an update on the ongoing master plan revision, noting survey findings and draft recommendations. Top priorities among survey respondents included improved trail connectivity, shade structures, and youth recreation options.

Rose Creek Estates trail vacation

The Council reviewed a petition to vacate a public trail behind Rose Creek Estates. 13 adjacent homeowners support the vacation, but before the Council makes a decision, the City will hold a neighborhood open house to receive feedback from the larger community. These meetings will likely occur in early 2026.
