Fleet
The Fleet Department provides City staff with reliable, safe vehicles and equipment. It is vital to the inner workings of the City that the equipment is readily available and dependable when needed to perform a task. Four full-time employees maintain a total of 356 City vehicles and equipment. In 2019-2020, the Fleet Department completed 883 work orders for general maintenance and repairs of City vehicles and equipment.
In addition to general maintenance and repairs, the Fleet Department works daily to:
- Manage City assets (budgeting and reporting, vehicle replacement, scheduling and forecasting needs, etc.)
- Manage fuel by tracking purchases and vehicle mileage
- Designate development for procurement of vehicles and equipment with City management to ensure the most effective “tools” are available for their departments
- Lower fleet-related costs by identifying inefficiencies like unneeded, low-use vehicles
- Manage specialized services such as motor pool needs, driver instruction, CDL training, and vehicle wash services
