Youth Council
The Youth Council provides an opportunity to learn about—and participate in—local government. In addition to educational opportunities, the Council organizes and takes part in service projects, fundraisers, and City events.
Want to be a part of the Youth Council?
Youth Council terms span from July 1st - June 30th, with the application deadline of May 15th each year.
Application requirements
- Must be in 9th to 12th grade (or 14-18 years old) by the first day of the term
- Be a current Herriman City resident
- Participate in an in-person interview conducted by advisors
- Demonstrate a commitment to community service
- Agree to follow the Youth Council Code of Conduct
- Sign all required youth and parent permission forms
What will the Youth Council do during the year?
- Actively participate in City events
- Learn about City government
- Mentor with elected and appointed City officials
- Tour the Utah state capital
- Participate in a youth council leadership conference (pending budget approval)
- Service projects
- Other activities
Youth Council Meetings
Youth Council meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of the month from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Herriman City Hall.
