District 4 – Vacancy Appointment

Herriman City hereby announce the resignation of Councilmember Steven Shields, who is moving out of the city.

Qualified individuals who wish to be considered for the appointment must submit an application to the City Recorder. The applicant may also submit a resume along with a brief statement of interest no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, to the City Recorder's Office.

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Herriman City Hall Council Chambers, during which the City Council will interview all applicants and then vote to fill the vacancy. The meeting will be open to the public and conducted in accordance with the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act.

2025 Municipal General Election

Herriman City will hold a non-partisan municipal general election on November 4, 2025, to elect a Mayor and three (3) City Council positions.  The Mayoral position will be elected at-large to serve a four-year term.

City Council positions will include:

  • District Two – four-year term
  • District Three – four-year term
  • District Four – two-year term (special election)

The special election for District Four will fill the remaining two years of Councilmember Shields' vacancy.

Candidate Filing:

The candidate filing period begins June 2, 2025 during regular business hours and ends on June 6, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.  Declaration of Candidacy Forms or Nomination Petitions must be filed in person with the City Recorder at 5355 West Herriman Main Street, Herriman, Utah. A $25 filing fee is required at the time of declaration.

Polling Locations

The Herriman City Hall will serve as both an Election Day polling location and a ballot drop-off location for the upcoming election. Ballots can be dropped off at the secure box outside City Hall through Election Day. For more information on voting procedures, deadlines, and locations, please see the information below.

Please note that the Herriman City Hall is not an early voting (in-person) location. Visit the Salt Lake County website for a list of early voting locations. Ballots may be dropped off at the outdoor ballot drop box but no in-person voting will take place until Election Day.




Voter Registration

Online Application:

Visit the Online Voter Registration website to find information and to register. You need to have a current Utah Driver License or ID card in order to register using the online system. Your Online Voter Registration must be submitted 11 days prior to the upcoming election to be eligible to vote in that election.
